Dog rescue … and Charley
We interrupt this political bantering for an update on the rescues. The National Humane Society tells us that this year will be the worst year for a long time … when folks lose their homes the pets are dumped. Dumped? Taken to the pounds, left tied in the yard, set “free” …
The list of foreclosed homes in our local paper grows daily. (Fights the impulse to go off on another political tangent).
A few weeks ago our local pound went to doubling up in the cages because the caretaker is sick of putting dogs down. Sick of putting dogs down … We get calls every single day from folks looking for a place to take their pets. This week so far it is 2 long haired Doxies, asst. terriers, 2 labs, 1 rottie, and 2 great danes. Those are the ones I know about. <sighs> This doesn’t even take into account the cats. Cats are almost always set “free”. Our local cat rescue currently has 83 cats. What can I say about that? besides … OMG.
<shakes head and sighs>
So, anyway we have Charley. Charley is a beautiful Pek. He came complete with registration papers.
Hope that farm comes along soon … (you know the one I am waiting to win the lottery to buy?) Could be a long wait huh?
